Analysis of the Female Absent Phenomenon in Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea"

作者以《老人与海》为中心,通过海明威的其它作品,探讨了该作品的主题,并解读了《老人与海》中女性缺席现象,指出海明威的“硬汉子”形象是其创作的外化表象,而其冰山之下是以平常心来看待人生:男女之爱固然重要,但生命的意义实质上存在于寻求过程中。

The paper discusses the theme of 'The Old Man and the Sea', analyzes the female absent phenomenon and points out that Hemingway's 'unyielding man' is externalized and the lower part of the berg is his normal attitude towards to human life. The love between man and woman is of course important, but the essence of the significance of life is in the process of seeking.
