Explanation of Euphemism in View of the Theory of Vague Linguistics

文章从模糊语言学理论方面解释了传统委婉语和文体委婉语的本质及其特点 ,说明了委婉语的模糊特征。在委婉语中 ,人们倾向于用模糊概念代替精确概念 ,用同属一个集合的模糊程度大的词语婉指模糊程度小的词语 ,用不属于同一个集合的模糊词婉指另一个模糊词语。

The author illustrates the characteristic of euphemisims in view of the theory of vague linguistics from two aspects :traditional euphem isms and stylistic euphemisms. People tend to use vague concepts to express con crete concepts, use the word with a high degree of vagueness to express the conc ept with a lesser degree of vagueness, and use vague words of different catagori es to indicate anther one.
