刘勰撰写《文心雕龙》时的年龄不是三十多岁 ,而是四十多岁 ;刘勰在刘宋时未出仕的原因是他年未二十 ;梁武帝在天监元年即位之初所颁布的广求贤才的诏旨是刘勰产生撰写《文心雕龙》的动机的诱因 ;由此推出刘勰的生年为宋大明七年 ,其开始撰写《文心雕龙》的时间为天监二年春 。

By a through study on Liuxies lifetime and the historical background, as well as the motives of his writing Wen Xin Diao Long, this paper finds out that he was in his thirties rather than supposed forties when he composed this masterpiece.
