Painting, wood engraving, photography, calligraphy and sculpture are what used to be called art. Installation, conception, land art, demeanor and new media are what the art community are not accustomed to call art but have to. Neither then had their names. And in a hurry, the terms Jiashang Art(on easel) and Jiaxia Art(off easel), Jiashang Art(easel) and Non jianshang Art(non easel) occurred. After the 1980s, non easel art became an essential aspect gradually. Some of the theoreticians in China thought that easel art was out of date and not significant. I do not agree. As a matter of fact, while non easel art were developing, the Western easel art developed ceaselessly. Some important sculptors as Henry Moor and Alexander Calder and painters as Willem De Kooning and lucian freud appeared.
