“三个代表”揭示了新世纪中国共产党加强和改进自身建设的目标和方向。按照“三个代表”要求建设党 ,贯穿的精神就是永葆党的先进性 ,与时俱进地站在时代和社会发展的前列 ;“三个代表”是党成为工人阶级先锋队 ,成为中国人民和中华民族先锋队的保证 ;“三个代表”提出了不断增强党的阶级基础和扩大党的群众基础的时代任务 ;“三个代表”体现了党从夺取政权到长期执政 ,从受封锁到全面改革开放两大转变的需要 ;“三个代表”是解决提高党的执政能力和领导水平 。

The theory of 'three representatives' reveals the objective and direction in CPCs strengthening and improving its construction. Its essence lies in perpetually maintaining the Partys advanced nature and keeping the Party stand in the forefront of times and social development. The theroy of 'three representatives' is a guarantee for the Party to become the vanguard of working class, of the Chinese people and of the whole nation. It also raises the task of our times, that is, strengthening CPCs class foundation and broadening CPCs mass foundation. Furthermore, it embodies the necessity of CPCs two great changes from seizing political power to being in power over a long period of time, and from being blocked to adopting the policy of reform and opening. At last, it is the guiding principle to deal with the two historic issues- improving the Partys abilities to govern and lead the country, as well as to fight against corruption and withstand risks.
