An Analysis of the Relationship between Formal Reason and Dialectical Reason

在形式理性与辩证理性的相互关系问题上,曾出现过许多误解。作为人类思维的两大基本工具,形式理性和辩证理性之间是互补互益的关系。正确区分两种“矛盾”是认识两种理性的关键。辩证理性以确定性为基础讲求变化、发展;形式理性暂时将形式与内容区分开来,研究变中之不变,最终目的是达到更全面的认识。两者统一于思维对确定性和全面性的要求。

There have been many misunderstandings of the relationship between formal reason and dialectical reason. Actually formal reason and dialectical reason, as two fundamental means for human thinking, are beneficial for each other. Therefore distinguishing the different “contradictions” correctly is the key to the understanding of their relationship. Dialectical reason, based on conception, asks for variety and development; while formal reason distinguishes the form and content temporarily for the eventual comprehensive conclusion. They are unified in the demand of thinking for the conception and the comprehensive.
