Lexical phrases are quite fixed chunks formed with two or more words, which contain the following features: non-compositionality, fixity of lexicon and grammar, and conventionality. The study of phrases is not restricted within the area of lexicology only but related to other areas such as semantics, syntax and function. Now, people’s understanding of this branch in language study and language application study is becoming more and more mature.
