Some Thoughts on One-Hundred-Year Top Quality Academic Works

摘要 我们着眼于对"百年学术精品调查"活动进行深入的反思。调查表明,入选的"学术精品"中, 以西方的特别是美国的居多;中国部分的精品书目呈马鞍型分布;中国部分的精品书目中属于人文学科的较 多,社会科学的较少。对什么是学术、什么是精品、怎样品评精品等问题的思考,有助于更加深入地认识自由 多元的学术环境、平等包容的学术氛围、求真务实的学术品质对创造精品、繁荣学术所具有的重要意义。 The purpose of this article is to rethink deeply about the activity named 'the investigation of the top quality academic works in the past century'. The obvious tendency is that in these selected and concerned top quality academic works, those from the West especially from America are the majority; the distribution about Chinese top quality works is a dip between two peaks; and among Chinese top quality works the majority belong to the humanity, while those social science works are the minority. What is academic learning? What is the top quality work? How to evaluate it? In a background lack of great minds, the deliberation about these questions could help us recognize that the academic freedom and pluralism, the equal and tolerant research atmosphere, and the down-to-earth personality of pursuing truth are essential to the creation of the top quality work and the academic prosperity.
