我们应该从历史学的角度出发,更深入地思考中共党史研究中的问题。就学科性质而言,进行文化取向的反思是一个必要的关键环节。文化与历史是一个整体,作为人文科学范畴的历史学,在学科性质上有其不容忽视的特殊性,这种相对于自然科学、社会科学呈现出的独特超然于普遍的法则、规律之外,它所联系的人物、事件无一不具有丰富而深刻的文化内涵和鲜明的文化特征。在中共党史学理论体系和中共党史研究的各个领域中需要展示文化的存在,厘清中共历史与文化的理路。这并不仅仅在于给中共党史研究增添一些“文化史”的素材,或者是对中国共产党所领导的“文化工作”做一般化的梳理,而是倡导一种反思的、开放的历史观念。

We should delve more deeply into the problems in studies on the CPC history from the perspective of the science of history. In terms of the nature of the discipline, a culturally-oriented reflection is an essential link. Culture and history form parts of an integrated whole and are interdependent. The cultural existence needs to be displayed in the overall theoretical system of the Party history and in all its research fields, making clear the links of the CPC history with culture. The emphasis we put on cultural existence and links with culture is not intended to add some source materials of ' cultural history' to the studies on the Party history or to generally sort out the 'cultural work' led by the Party, but to initiate a reflective and open historical conception.
