On the Spirit of Mao Zedong

毛泽东精神是20世纪中华民族伟大精神的集中体现和象征,是民族文化和民族精神的核心,亦是21世纪中国人民继续奋发图强实现民族复兴的精神源头和精神动力。毛泽东精神与毛泽东思想既相联系又有区别,毛泽东思想的范畴不足以涵盖和代表毛泽东精神的全部内涵,应该将毛泽东精神从毛泽东思想中独立出来进行研究。

The spirit of Mao Zedong is the concentrated expression and symbol of the great national spirit of the Chinese nation and the core of national culture and spirit in the 20th century. It will also serve as the spiritual source and motive force for the Chinese people to continue to work hard for the national rejuvenation in the 21st century. The spirit of Mao Zedong is linked with and at the same time differs from Mao Zedong Thought. The category of Mao Zedong Thought is not broad enough to cover all the connotations of the spirit of Mao Zedong and we should therefore have study the latter as a separate subject from the former.
