我们伟大的祖国是一个历史悠久的多民族国家。羌族是活动于黄河中、上游的一个强大民族。传说中的神农氏,早在公元前三千多年就出生在陕西省的渭河流域。从我国著名学者竺可桢先生的《中国五千年气候变迁的初步研究》一文提供的资料看,公元前三千年到一千年左右,是中国历史上第一个温暖期,黄河中、上游气假条件良好,适宜人类居住。古羌族的先民们就在这一带生息繁衍,开拓发展,创造了我国的“史前文明”。
