改革、开放、搞活,是我们国家走向繁荣的必由之路,破除旧观念,寻求新思想、新方法,搞活各自的工作,已成为人们普遍关注的问题。在图书馆工作中,进一步解放思想、更新观念、深化改革的关键在哪里?我认为,关键仍在于如何根据社会发展的需要,适时地调整和转变图书馆的社会职能。即是说,图书馆在为精神文明建设服务的同时,必须利用图书馆学。

Under very good situations of reforming,opening to the outside world and enlivening the domesticeconomy,the primary task of library service is to readjust and transform its functors from mainlycollecting and storing documents to developing and utilizing.So we must unceasingly open up newservice fields and methods,such as:helping the new and supporting the weak;putting into practicethe contracted jobs;contacting with factories,mines and other enterprises,offering directionalservices;combining with special objections,joining the whole process of scientific research andproduction;providing knowledge and information service of a connected sequence;by use of twomajor advantages of documents and talents in library,forming a company of technologicaldevelopment to materialize documents resources.The key to success or failure is to widen the plicyof paid service;carry out the principle of distribution according to work;improve practically thetreatment of intellectuals;harmonize the relationship inside and outside library;bring the superiorityof entirety into full play.
