General Analysis of Publishing Situation of Works on Library and Information Science

今年是新中国诞生40周年。40年来,我国走过了曲折的历程,各项事业在克服重重困难后得以发展,并取得了令人瞩目的成就。作为图书情报事业理论基础的图书馆学、情报学,同样也经历了曲折前进、不断发展的40年,并取得了丰硕的成果。这些成果主要表现在专业科研和整个事业的发展上,专业著作的大量出版则是其重要的标志之一。回顾并总结40年来图书馆学。

This is one of the monographic papres written in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.In the past 40 years,there have officially published600 titles of books on library and information science in china.Analysed by the year ofpublication,the year of 1985 is the most prosperous year with respect to the publication ofprofessional works of library and information science—71 books were published;by the subjectdevision,450 titles(75% of the total)are on library science,70 titles(11.7%)on informationscience,and 80(13.3)on bibliography and documentation studies.Among those dealing withlibrary science,books concerning technical methods number 265 and account for 58.9%.Analysedby the proportion of writings against translations,78% of the total are writings by Chinese authorsor compiled by the Chinese,while 22% are translations from foreign books.Among those 600books,the Chinese Library Classification Scheme published by Bibliography and DocumetationPublishing House,chinese Thesaurus published by Scientific and Technical DocumentationPublishing House,Information Retrieval of Scientific and Technical documentations published bybeijing University Press,General Introduction into Information Science,and Information Retrievalof Scientific and Technical Documentations published by Wuhan University Press have won thenational awards.After reviewing the basic situation and pointing out the existing problems,theauthor suggests efforts should be made in two jobs—planning for researches of major professionalissues,and strengthening the contact and cooperation between professional publishing circle andprofessional research circle on the one hand,and between publishers on the other.
