The library services for minority nationalities in China

我国是一个统一的多民族的社会主义国家,除汉族外还有55个少数民族。建国后,党和政府一贯十分注意少数民族图书馆事业的发展。目前,共有426个少数民族图书馆,是解放前14所的30倍。其中,除全国性的北京民族图书馆(经国家民委批准,从1989年4月开始对外改称中国民族图书馆。

China is a unitary multi-national socialist country.After the foundation of the people'sRepublic of China,the party and the government have paid great attention to the development oflibrary services for minority nationalities.Now there are 426 minority nationality libraries ofvarious kinds,30 times as many as before liberation,and 500000 m^2 building space.The totalholdings are nearly 40000000 volumes,among which there are 2000000 volume(?) printed inminority nationality characters.58% of the staff members come from 37 minority nationalities.They,with their colleagues of Han nationallity,have devoted themself to the boarderland andovercome lots of difficulties to serve the (?)aders of various nationalities and help the remoteminority nationality regions free from poverty and attain to prosperity,by making use of book caseson horses,loan desks in tents,mobile lib(?)avies(Wulanbaokeqi),and so on.They have madevaluable contributions to the prosperity of the boarder(?)and and the progress of nationalities.
