American current account deficit is becoming lager and larger since the 1990s. The main reasons for the large external deficit are private investment wave, private consumption craze and large budget deficit in the USA. What's more, the deficit will continue to expand in the near future both from the basic factors and from the temporary ones. However, the deficit will be sustainable mainly because of the development of American economy and the monopolizing status of dollar.
