石牌制在瑶族传统社会中具有不可忽视的地位和作用。本调研报告从瑶族石牌这一传统社会组织在农村可持续生计中的作用和影响的角度 ,进行田野考察和研究 ,认为石牌在维持社区生产制度、维护社区安全、保护和延续瑶族传统文化等方面均发挥不同程度的作用。

The stele system has its position not to be ignored and has played roles in the traditional society of the Yao Nationality. After taking fields investigation and research, from the point of view on the roles and influence of the traditional social form like the Yao's stele on the continuative means of livelihood, this report draws an conclusion that the stele has played varied roles on the maintenance of community productive system, the defense of community security, the protection and continuity of the Yao's traditional culture.
