“河西”含义在汉魏六朝的变迁

The Change about the Meaning of the Word “Hexi” from the Han Dynasty to the Norhtern and Southern Dynasties

“河西”一词在司马迁的时代有两个含义,一是指洛河与渭河交汇处的一小块地区,一是指今甘肃河西走廊一带。到了东汉,河西仅仅指今河西走廊一带,三国、魏晋、南朝一直延续这一用法。但是在南北对峙时的北方,情况稍有不同,河西除了指今天河西走廊地区外,最普遍的含义是指东起今山西吕梁山,西到今甘肃、宁夏两省间的那一段黄河之间的一大片区域。

The meaning of word “Hexi” have two meanings in the period of SimaQian,one represents a small region of the confluence between Luo River and Wei River,another one represents the Hexi Corridor.The word of “Hexi” only represents the area of Hexi Corridor from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Southern Dynasties.But,there are some difference in the Northern Dynasties,apart from the Hexi Corridor,the general meaning of “Hexi” is the area between the Luliang Mountain and the Yellow River crossing the Gansu Province and Ningxia Province.
