This article reports and summarizes the results of China National Health Accounts in 2003.The composition of China total expenditure on health (CTEH) by source has taken on some new trends.The share of government health appropriation to CTEH has been up since many years decline;the share of social health expenditure also increases;and the share of out-of -pocket health expenditure has been continuously declined for two years,which together contribute to low the successive up-trends of the share of out-of-pocket health expenditure.Combined with international experience,the authors put forward some suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of government health appropriation.
