以中外图书馆发展史为线索,从图书馆是人类记忆的工具;是人类文化遗产的保存基地;是人类文化交流和文化建设的重要机构3个方面论述了图书馆在文化交流中的地位和作用。

Taking the developing history of the foreign and Chinese libraries as the threads, this paper discusses on the position and functions of the library in the cultural exchange from three aspects of that the library is the tool of human being's memory, the library is the base for preserving human being's heritages, and the library is the important institution for human being's cultural exchange and cultural construction.
