ervllium forms a purple 1:1 complex with DMPF in the presence of CTMAB in a pH8.0~9.0 H_3BO_3-KCl-Na_2CO_3 buffer.The maximum absorbance is at 542nm. The molar absorptivity is 9.85×10 ̄4L· mol ̄-1·cm ̄-1,Beer’s law is obeyed for BeO in the range of 0~0.38μg/ml. The method is simple,rapid and sensitive. The recommended procedure has beenapplied to the determination of beryllium in geological samples with satisfactory results.
