For the purpose of reducing fuel oil cost and improving economical performance, shipping companies and vessels may choose poor quality fuel oil, the trend of which is gradually getting worse. By analyzing the present situation, restricted performance, and requirements of using poor quality fuel oil and its subsequent major problems, the article raises the measures for us to be taken while using poor quality fuel oil in a marine diesel engine.
