Studies of domestic city circles have re- vealed that there are three main functional modes of city circles:comprehensive economic zone divi- sion mode,town system mode,market integration mode.The study of the function orientation of the city circle of Nanjing has placed Nanjing as one of the city circles with the most powerful competitive strength,a pivotal city circle at the junction of the Yangtze River drainage area andthe eastern coastal area,the first essential city circle in Jiangsu and an all-embracing,openanddiversified cultural city circle in Jiangsu.
