The importance of the teacher ——On primary status of teaching in the university

"百年大计,教育为本;教育大计,教师为本。""教师大计,教学为本;教学大计,育人为本。"教学是教师传道、授业、解惑的主要手段,因而在大学的诸多任务或功能中,必须以教学为中心与基础,必须正确处理大学诸功能之间的关系。不论什么类型的大学,都应根据自身的特点,正确认识教学与研究的作用及其相互关系。

Education is a project of vital and lasting importance ; the teacher is the subject of education ; teaching is the essential thing of the teacher. 'Teaching is the main way of inseminating, teaching, and consulting. Therefore, teaching should be the center and foundation of the various tasks and functions of the university. The university must handle the relationship between each functions correctly. Any university, whether it is attributed to any type, according to its own characteristic, should realize correctly the function and interaction of teaching and research.
