Review on EPPL7──An Attractive PC-based GIS Software

ＥＰＰＬ７是美国明尼苏达州土地规划委员会开发的一套地理信息系统软件。根据长期的ＥＰＰＬ７使用经验，从系统的硬件环境、系统功能、用户界面等方面对最新的ＥＰＰＬ７—２．０版本进行了评述。

EPPL7(Environinental Planning and Programming Language,version7)is a PC based GIS software developed by Minnesota State Planning Agency,EPPL7 Release 2.0,which was released in 1990,is the newest version, EPPL7 2. 0 increases the functionalityof the previous releases and adds digitizing model,conversion routines,table functions,andvector integrating capabilities.In this paper,according to the atithors'experiences on EPPL7 operation,EPPL7 is re-viewed based on the followiiig features;its hardware requirement and software environ-ment,its system structure and data structure,its functionality, data processing speed anduser interfaces,together with its shortcomings.EPPL7 is an attractive popularizable GISsoftware for its low hardware requirement,high capacity ,fast speed,strong functionality and low cost.
