试论英译汉的语义理解和表达

On the Comprehension and Expression of the Original in E/C Translation

在翻译过程中,语义的透彻理解,是译文表达的前提和开端,译文表达是理解的目的和结果。本文从语义的三个层次即言内意义、指称意义和实用意义出发,探讨了英译汉中语义的透彻理解对于获得翻译艺术性的重要意义。

The understanding of the original is the foundation of translation.Comprehension is the prerequisite for and beginning of expression while expression is the objective and outcome of comprehension.From the three aspects of semantic content,i.e.intralinguistic meaning,referential meaning and practical meaning,this paper proves that comprehension of the words and comprehension of the original text are particularly important for translation from English to Chinese.
