Based on different social and cultural backgrounds,metaphors in English and Chinese express their own distinctive cultural connotation.Meanwhile,there is generality between Chinese and English metaphors due to human similar thought and culture.This article analyses the connotation from cultural tradition,laboring,historical grounds,myths,religions,social development and geographical conditions.
