On the Lyrical Difference between Ci and Shi

词与诗原本同为一种文体,具有相同的诸多特点。但在抒发人的情感意趣方面,词有异于诗,也优胜于诗,这主要表现在三方面:一、体制格调;二、句式长短;三、平仄音韵。

Ci and Shi share the same origin, as well as some characteristics. As far as feeling and interest are concerned, however, Ci differs from and surpasses Shi, which mainly lies in the following three: writing style, length of sentence and rhythm.
