Mandarin test is a criterion-referenced test. Since the grading and overall evaluation has a definite reference point, the achievements of the candidates of different types and from different regions are comparable with each other. Owing to the sophisticated information received while testing, there does exist the elements of 'blurring evaluation', but the distinction within a grade is marked by quantity of losing marks, and distinction between grades is marked by accumulation of this quantity.
