An Exposition on the Missionary School of Yantai in Modern Times

本文对近代烟台教会学校进行了系统的阐述和分析 ,用辩证的观点剖析了教会学校的特点和对中国社会的影响。全文共分三部分 :第一部分为概况 ,指出烟台开埠后西方传教士开设学校的情况。第二部分论证了教会学校的特点。指出其办学宗旨是宣传宗教 ;在教学上引进西方学制 ;提倡女子教育 ;注重专业教育和特殊教育。第三部分论述了教会学校对烟台社会尤其是思想文化领域的影响。其有别于中国传统教育的教育思想和方式对烟台民众意识的启发起了积极作用。但不能因为教会学校的某些积极作用而否认其殖民性。

This paper discusses the missionary school of Yantai, it's characteristics, it's influences on China's society etc..The paper falls into three parts:First,a survey of the missionary school of Yantai. Second, the characteristics of the missionary school, the aim of the missionary school was to publicize religion. It imported the western system of education, promoted woman's education and paid attention to specialized education. Third, the influences of the missionary school upon the ideological and cultural spheres of Yantai.
