长江是中国２１世纪的经济脊梁。长江流域具有良好的自然条件和经济基础，加快建设长江经济带是我国现代化建设“三步走”的客观要求，是实现东、西部协调发展，促进西部大开发的必然选择。沿江联动，应加强沪、渝合作，只有上海、重庆这两颗“螺丝钉”强壮了，才有可能使中国经济发展的“Ｈ”形大骨架坚挺起来。

To quicken construction of Yangtze economy zone, is not only the impersonal require of three steps strategy of China modernization construction, but also the necessary choice of realizing the together development of East and West and promoting the western development. To realize the unity along the river, it should strengthen lhe cooperation between Chongqing and Shanghai.
