The character of Hamlet has long since been a complicated and controversial subject. This essay tries to go beyond the one-sidedness of the past views about Hamlet. It indicates, from the perspective of psychologic analysis, sensitivity to be the intrinsic quality of Hamlet. And therefore all aspects the character of Hamlet can be finally related to this sensitivity. It is the link between his inner conflicts and the outside ones, and also the foundation of his 'extension of stimulation'. It causes the waves of his feelings, and the contradiction of his conducts as well. Meanwhile, it is the origin of his characteristic charm. The essay ends with expounding the relationship between the sensitivity and Hamlet's madness.
