Baiyangdian, a vast water-land dotted with reed groves and islets, lies on the North China Plain in Hebei Province. The people there mab a living from the lake, fishing with ospreys and processing reeds into mattresses. But as the ecology deteriorates and the environment changes, their traditional way of life comes under threat.
