AIM To investigate the distribution of glutathione S-transferase A1(GSTA1) genetic polymorphism at locus -69 in population of Han nationality in China. METHODS Genomic DNA was extracted from human peripheral blood and the genotypes of GSTA 1 gene polymorphism were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) in 140 Chinese Han people. RESULTS(In the population), the proportion of CC, CT and TT genotypes were 75.0%, 24.3% and 0.7%, respectively. Allele frequencies of C and T were detected to be 87.1% and 12.9%, respectively. CONCLUSION The distribution of GSTA1 genes is polymorphism in Chinese Han population and different from those in other racial populations.
