君子不器:当代大学育人目标探析

Jun Zi Bu Qi: Probe into the Goal of Personnel Education of Contemporary Universities

“君子不器”即君子不像器物,只有一种用途,而要学道得道,因道乃诸器之本。当今社会需要的是体无不备、用无不周的得道君子,即能够以不变的道应对万变的器的通才,而当今大学的育人目标与课程设置大都是为培养成器的专才而设立的,因此,应该调整大学的育人目标,变培养实用型人才为培养通用型人才。通过弘扬我国传统文化的精华,把传统与文艺鉴赏、现代科技知识结合起来,增设新课程,把学生培养成为能终生适应社会发展的有用人才。

“ Jun Zi Bu Qi” i.e. the gentleman should not like an implement that has only one use, but should learn to be a versatile person. Just like this, what the society needs, nowadays, are those who can cope with all social changes and challenges with their all-round ability. But the goal of personnel education and curriculum of universities are only designed for specialists. Therefore, the goal of education should be adjusted from training practical talents to training all-round ones. By carrying forward the quintessence of the traditional culture of our country, combining the tradition, art and modern science and technology, setting up new courses, the students can be educated to useful talents who can adapt to the social development all their lives.
