摘要
本文介绍了计算机化调适性语言测试(Computerized Adaptive Language Test)(下称CALT)的定义、历史和施测步骤;阐述了其基本理论根据-项目反应理论(Item Response Theory)(IRT);重点分析了CALT之于传统纸笔考试的优势;对其面临的问题与挑战提出了自己的思考;并指出,计算机化调适性语言测试因其符合外语教学改革发展的实际需求将成为引领外语测试的新方向.
The article begins by introducing the definition, the roots and the testing process of computerized adaptive test, followed by describing the Item Response Theory and the advantages of CALT over the traditional pen-and-paper testing. Then, a number of issues in terms of the design and practice of CALT are discussed. Given that CALT caters for the new trends of individualized language education, the article finally points out that CALT is gradually becoming the mainstream in assessment practice and will no doubt prove to be the most predominant feature of language testing.
