A brief presentation is given of the reasons, feasibility, scheme, composition and functions of the upgrading and revamp of the PLC interlocking control system for the five major units in an ammonia plant. After revamp, the problems and hidden peril of the original system are solved so that the functions of the PLC system are being perfected and more and more reliable.
