写作是一个思维过程,一种言语交流,是多种语言能力的综合反映,它考察的是学生的组织能力、逻辑思维能力以及语言运用能力。英语写作能够测出学生各个层次的语言能力,包括词汇和语法、语篇能力和语用能力,同时也可测量语言使用的准确性、流利性和合适性。英语写作能力的提高与多种因素密切相关。正确处理听说读写的关系,掌握词汇及其用法,重视英语语法、句法学习,了解中西文化差异对英语词汇和语篇结构等方面的影响,有助于提高写作水平。

As a process of writing and a type of verbal communication, writing is an integration of several language skills. Its aim is to test the learners' ability of organization, logical thinking and language performance. It can measure the learners' linguistic competence at different levels, including the lexical and grammar competence, the textual competence and the pragmatic competence, and the accuracy, fluency and appropriateness of the language performance as well. A good cooperation of the basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), a good mastery of English words and their usages, adequate knowledge of English grammar and syntax, a full understanding of the effect of English and American cultures on the words and text will be helpful for the improvement of the learners' English writing competence.
