From maxims to cognition——On differences between conversational implication and Relevance

Grice的会话含意理论奠定了语用学的基础,而关联理论则从认知科学的角度继承和发展了关于话语含意的推导,从而使语用研究的切入点从准则转移到认知。从两种理论的不同研究角度入手,可以发现两者在话语含意推导基础、话语交际研究焦点以及关于语境问题等方面存在的差异。

While Grice's Conversational Implication lays the foundation of Pragmatics, Sperber and Wilson's Relevance furthers the study on the basis of Grice's research from the aspect of cognition, resulting in transferring the starting point of research from maxims to cognition. This paper illustrates their differences in the respects of the basis of inference, the focus of research and the problems about context.
