Virginia Woolf’s works are usually associated with modernism and feminism; however, its socio-political aspect is often neglected. In order to show her concern for social issues, in novels Jacob’s Room and Mrs Dalloway, Woolf mainly reveals the experiences of three male characters---Jacob, Septimus and Peter. Through the analysis of imperial issues like public education, war and colony, readers can thus come to conclusion that Woolf, as the writer from the Suzerain, notices these problems but cannot find the way out, and her ambivalence also shows her uneasiness and worries.
