新的历史条件下,中国共产党肩负着伟大的历史使命。能否保持先进性是关系党的前途命运的大问题,也是关系整个国家民族前途命运的大问题。在全党开展以实践“三个代表”重要思想为主要内容的保持共产党员先进性教育活动,是保持党的先进性的重要措施。文章阐述了新时期对共产党员先进性赋予的新内涵与新要求,探讨了保持共产党员先进性的必要性、迫切性和锤炼党员先进性的基本途径。

Under new historical conditions, the Chinese Communist Party is shouldering great historic commission. It is related to the great problem of the future and fate of the Party and also of the whole nation whether this nature of advance can be maintained. To implement educational activity in the whole party to keep the Party's advanced nature with practicing “Three Represents' as main contents is an important measures to keep the Party's nature of advance. This article elaborated new contents and new requirement which the new times gave to the Party members, probed into fundamental approaches to maintain its necessities, eagerness and to steel Party members.
