This paper attempts to analyze Graham Greene's The Quiet American from the perspective of existentialism. With a psychological study of the main character in the novel, Thomas Fowler, and Fowler's spiritual process-from detachment, commitment to moral dilemma, Greene revealed his ethical concern and interpretation of the concepts of existentialism: choice, action, responsibility and relativity of moral standards.
