Looking at the Differences in Li's and Du's Personality Orientation from Their Worship of Heroes

李白和杜甫都具有强烈的英雄崇拜倾向,由此反映了各自的人格取向。比较而言,李白的英雄崇拜是通过对历史英雄的艺术再造,展现自己的独立人格、自由意志和批判精神。杜甫的英雄崇拜以“奉儒守官”的家族传统为起点,将儒家所倡导的社会责任感、原则性以及忠诚执著的品质作为他不懈的人格追求。

Both Li Bai and Du Fu have a strong inclination for worshiping heroes, whereupon are reflected their own personality orientations. Comparatively speaking, Li's worship of heroes is to display his independent personality, free will, and critical spirit through his artistic reconstruction of heroes in history. Du's worship, on the other hand, takes the family tradition of “adhering to Confucianism and defending the authorities' as the starting point, and regards the sense of social obligations, principles, and the loyal and unswerving qualities advocated by Confucianism as his steadfast pursuit of personality.
