古“县”新考——与唐德刚教授商榷

A Research on the Ancient"Xian"(County)──A Discussion with Prof.Tang Degang

唐德刚先生《晚清七十年》对“县”的性质、建制的说法值得商榷,从文字学与政治两方面结合古代礼制提出新的考证,对古代“县”的建制的产生演化及在西周和春秋战国时期侯国间的同与不同进行历史的考辨,证明唐德刚先生以“悬而未决”论说“县”,十分不当。同时为县之起源,立一新说。

This paper queries Tang Degang's interpretation of'Xian's attribute and system.The author proposes new textual research from the perspectives of literal studies and politics.It surveys the developmental history of ancient'Xian'and makes a historical study of its situation around West Zhou,and Spring-Autumn and Warring Times in the early Chinese history.It proves that the so-called suspension notion of'Xian'is utterly unacceptable.
