Scientificness and Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine

中医学的科学性从根本上说表现在它对人体全面而系统的科学认识上及其与现代认识的高度一致性上。中医学形气神理论和脏腑理论分别从纵横两个方面科学揭示了人体存在的本质结构和功能系统,经络理论则从信息层面揭示了形气神及脏腑之间相互联系与相互作用的途径和机制。这三种理论在思想方法上与最新的科学与哲学观念具有高度的一致性。中医学的现代化应超越传统中医学和当代自然科学,以传统中医学基本理论和方法的继承为基础,通过对传统中医学的创造性转化来实现。

Fundamentally, the scientificness of traditional Chinese medicine is manifested by the correspondence between its complete and systematic insight into the human body and its insight into modern science and technology. The TCM theory of physique, qi and mind and the theory of zang- fu organs reveal longitudinally and transversely the basic structure of human existence and functional system, and the theory of meridians reveal the mechanism of the interconnection and interaction between physique - qi - mind and the zang - fu organs. These three theories correspond highly with the latest conceptions on science and philosophy. The modernization of Chinese medicine should transcend traditional Chinese medicine and modern natural sciences, and should be realized by inheriting the basic theories and methods of traditional Chinese medicine as the basis and creatively transforming traditional Chinese medicine.
