As an fundamental policy, laissez-faire had been the foundation and guarantee of British great power. Since the later 19th century, it was revised again and again and terminated eventually. This can be analyzed from these aspects: first, the social ideology turned from classical liberalism to new liberalism; second, the imperial policy altered from invisible imperial policy to visible one; third, commercial policy changed from laissez-faire to intervention of state. With revision and termination of this policy, British Empire went to decline.
