On differences between English and Chinese of thinking and applications of translation strategies

语言与思维相互作用,思维方式的不同必然导致语言结构的差异,从而成为影响翻译策略选择与制定的重要因素。英汉思维方式之间存在着很大差异,这就要求译者在翻译实践中以目的语读者的思维能力为参照依据,努力将原作中所包含的思维方式和文化特质再现出来。

Language and mode of thinking are interactive, therefore, differences in modes of thinking will inevitably lead to differences in language structure and usages, which naturally affects the selection and decision of the translation strategies. Varieties of differences between English and Chinese modes of thinking demand that translators should base on the thinking abilities of the readers of the target language in translation and give a true reflection of the modes of thinking and cultural elements contained in the source language.
