在已经过去的一年,对于身处海外的华人而言是多灾多难的一年。2005年3月8日,向来被举世公认为“太平国度”的新西兰,也发生了绑架华人勒索案件。虽然新西兰警方已经找到被绑架女子,并安然脱险,但是海外华人的安全问题,再次引起世人关注。
On March 8th, 2005, one Chinese people was kidnapped in New Zealand, the most safe and peaceful country in the world. We have to realize such a fact that the Chinese are no longer the least tar- geted people when they go abroad. Instead, they become the tar- get of terrorists. In solving such kind of cases, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other departments concerned paid much more attention to safeguard the hostage's life, and agreed to negotiate without hurting the basic principles. At the same time, experts suggest that Chinese going abroad should keep a low profile. They also provided safety tips and ways of responding to such adversity.
