The mechanic properties of short column shear wall and special-shaped columns in high-rise building are elaborated. According to those properties various failure mechanisms are analyzed. Author points out that correct selection of structural style as well as reasonable computer analysis and reinforcement calculation is fundamental in ensuring structural stability.
