Relevance Theory and Pragmatic Inference

关联理论从认知的角度阐释了交际的性质,指出交际实际上就是一种“明示—推理行为”。认知语境为语用推理提供了手段,以使交际双方(即说话者和听话者)能依赖于此并通过一定的推理以达到对某一事实或话题都明了的交际目的。推理则是以关联原则和最佳关联假设为基础的。英语教学实际上也是一种交际活动,教师应当好中介人,帮助学生更好地掌握和运用所学知识。

Relevance theory expatiates the nature of communication, pointing out that communication is in fact a process of explicitness-inference action. Cognitive context provides a means for pragmatic inference, by which the communicating parties (speaker and listener) to achieve the communicating goal. Reasoning is based on the relevant principle and the best relevant hypothesis. English teaching is in fact a communication activity. The teacher should take the role of the medium and help students better grasp and apply their knowledge.
