Realm and Subsistence——Existential Implication of the Realm-of-Life Theory

冯友兰先生以人生四境界说, 追寻着人生存的意义。本文试图从人生四境界之分析, 来揭示其生存哲学之意义。并与存在主义者雅斯贝尔斯生存哲学思想比较, 力求从中剖析殊途同归的原因———乃源于对人之生存的领悟, 乃源于对生命的诠释。这一切启迪我们在中国现代化的语境之中, 唤醒对人的生命价值之尊重。

Feng Youlan, a famous modern Chinese philosopher, explored the meaning of human's subsistence through his realm-of-life theory in which he divides the human life into four different realms. This paper, analyzing the four life realms, tries to reveal the meaning of Feng's existential philosophy and analyses the cause of why it reaches the same destination as that of existentialist Karl Jaspers does through the comparison between the two. The answer lies in their comprehension of human's subsistence and explanation of human life. All these enlighten us that we should awaken to the importance of respect for the value of human life in the context of China's modernization.
